Meet Ryan

Ryan Hickey - Senior Project Manager

Ryan’s healthcare leadership experience spans behavioral health and substance-use treatment, FQHC primary care, and health plan operations. He began his career as a Behavioral Health Technician on the operations side of SUD treatment, advancing through clinic operations, executive leadership, risk management, compliance, policy development, and value-based care strategy. Each role was chosen to deepen his understanding of how healthcare systems can better serve the people who need them most.

In those roles, Ryan has helped organizations achieve Joint Commission accreditation, developed enterprise risk management frameworks, led compliance policy development across clinical and operational domains, and managed regulatory adherence under CMS, HIPAA, and FTCA requirements. He brings particular depth in FQHC governance, substance-use treatment operations, team and leadership development, and the operational pressures facing community health and nonprofit organizations.

Ryan holds a B.A. in Healthcare Administration from the University of Denver and is currently a Master of Public Health candidate at the Colorado School of Public Health at CU Anschutz, concentrating in Health Policy. Before healthcare, he built a career as a chef, working across the country before running his own seafood market and catering operation, a background that left him with an enduring appreciation for craft, adaptability, and showing up for people. He lives in Portland with his wife, and when he is not working, you will likely find him on a river fly fishing or exploring the outdoors.
