Executive Director

Federal Way, WA

Completed

After more than four decades of leadership, innovation, and tireless advocacy, Charlotte Booth, Executive Director of the Institute for Family Development (IFD), will be retiring in July.

Since 1982 Charlotte has devoted her career to transforming the lives of vulnerable children and families. Through an unwavering belief in the power of in-home family preservation services, Charlotte and senior management at IFD developed the HOMEBUILDERS® model, which has been replicated internationally and has kept thousands of children safely with their families. The impact of HOMEBUILDERS® is both profound and enduring. It has changed child welfare, mental health, and juvenile justice systems, influenced international policy, and most importantly, changed lives. On behalf of our staff, partners, and the families we serve, we extend our deepest gratitude for her extraordinary leadership.

As we celebrate Charlotte’s remarkable contributions, we are equally honored to announce the appointment of Lisa Greenwald as IFD’s new Executive Director. Lisa brings to the role a deep commitment to family preservation, a strong background in nonprofit and systems leadership, and a passion for equitable, evidence-based solutions that keep children safe and families together.

Lisa has a doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She most recently served as CEO for Kindering, where she partnered with clinical social workers to create, expand, and replicate CHERISHTM (Children Encouraged by Relationships in Secure Homes), which was launched in 2004. Under her leadership, this in-home, multi-disciplinary program has helped thousands of child welfare-involved children across Washington build secure relationships with both their parents and caregivers. She led the charge to secure both stable and transformative funding for both CHERISH and Washington’s Early Support for Infant and Toddler’s programs. We are confident that under Lisa’s leadership, IFD will continue to thrive and innovate in pursuit of our mission.
