Heyward Watson has served in executive leadership roles in both the non-profit and for-profit arenas for over 30 years. An innovative and growth-focused executive, Heyward began consulting for nonprofits in 2015. Prior, Heyward served as the Executive Director of Impact Capital, a Community Development Financial Institution, from 2006-2011, where he stabilized
an organization in distress, both financially and programmatically; and introduced improvements to reestablish an affiliation with a national funder. Heyward led the organization through significant restructuring, program enhancements, improved community relationships, and resource development planning and monitoring to better meet the needs of the community-focused organizations that Impact Capital supports.
Highly skilled in nonprofit financial sustainability and affordable housing organizations, Heyward has served on more than 10 non-profit boards including local, statewide and international experience with Habitat for Humanity Vancouver, B.C. and as a Senior Project Officer with British Columbia Housing servicing non-profit housing developers. Heyward has established a reputation as a transformational leader who is driven by solving challenges, overcoming obstacles, and building consensus among teams and stakeholders to promote transparency and influence positive change. Heyward is a certified Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Professional and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington in Sociology, and a master’s from Antioch University, Seattle in Business Management.
